Long Shadow Morning

The sun met me on the trail, it was a long shadow morning. Long shadows offer a unique experience, they give you every minute of morning. They offer a brief look backwards, a glimpse of nature at night, a very quick glimpse before the nocturnal world transitions. Long shadows offer solitude, an opportunity to walk alone, to walk ahead of short shadow hikers. Long shadow mornings filter through a different prism, they bathe meadows and mountains in rich colors, they let you see nature in a different light.

Long shadows stretch, they lean away, lean into distance—yet I feel them deep inside.

  1. I so understand. And, as I perhaps am finally recovering from years of insomnia and early morning work assignments, I will be more willing to enjoy those long shadow hikes 🙂 or kayaks…
